Ford Motor Co. is currently facing significant safety challenges regarding its vehicles equipped with faulty Takata airbags. The company has issued a "Do Not Drive" advisory impacting approximately 765,600 vehicles worldwide, including around 374,300 in the U.S. This advisory specifically affects several models, such as the 2004-2006 Ford Ranger, 2005-2014 Ford Mustang, and 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX. The presence of potentially explosive airbag inflators poses a serious risk of injury or death, which has been a continuing concern linked to the Takata airbag crisis.

Despite Ford's extensive outreach efforts, which number over 121 million attempts, a staggering 95% of affected U.S. customers have yet to address their recalls. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has deemed the risk significant, particularly for vehicles over 20 years old. Since 2009, the defective airbags have been associated with at least 30 fatalities and numerous injuries.

In an effort to mitigate these risks, Ford encourages customers to complete recall repairs as promptly as possible. The company is providing support by offering mobile service, towing options, and free interim loaner vehicles through its dealerships to facilitate the repair process. 

As of the latest update, Ford's stock showed an increase of 1.57%, trading at $10.02, reflecting potential investor confidence despite the ongoing safety issues. Investors should closely monitor Ford’s efforts to resolve this critical safety situation, as it will likely impact both the company's reputation and financial performance in the coming months.
